When I joined Armada, I was looking for community a place to connect with other gay men who were confident, active, and authentic. What I found was so much more. From day one, everyone was welcoming, supportive, and full of laughter. Armada isn’t just a team it’s a brotherhood built on acceptance, friendship, and pride.
I’m grateful to be part of a family that celebrates who we are, on and off the field.

I didn’t have a home club—just bouncing around SoCal, filling in for whoever needed a player, and threatening to retire for the fifth time.
Then I found Armada. I started terrified and out of place, but after playing Rucktacular and surviving, I discovered my spot at scrum half
Since then, I’ve grown, traveled with the team to Rome for the Bingham Cup, and made lifelong friends. I’ve “retired” three more times since joining in 2023, but let’s be real..I’m not going anywhere.

I originally joined the Armada because I wanted to try something completely new something outside my comfort zone.
I was looking for community, but what I found was so much more. The team saw potential in me that I didn’t even see in myself.
The Armada is more than just a rugby team to me; it’s a brotherhood. I work hard every day, both during and outside of practice, to make each and every one of my teammates proud. It’s the least I can do for everything they’ve taught me.

My time with Armada has been an honor. From day one, the warm welcomes and encouragement made me feel at home.
Before joining during the 7s season, I’d never played rugby, but I instantly fell in love with the sport and the people. Just a few practices in, I tore my meniscus, yet the support never stopped, even from teammates who barely knew me.
Through recovery, my only goal was to get back on the field, not just to play again, but to rejoin the brotherhood that means so much to me.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The San Diego Armada is an inclusive rugby union club. We welcome all players and supporters regardless of skill level, orientation, gender identity, religion, or national origin.
As a developmental team we routinely field players with a few weeks of rugby experience next to players with a decade on the pitch;
it's okay to be new because we love to help people learn the game. Being a social club means that our primary goal is to have a great time and make friends by playing. Inclusivity means that everyone is welcome in the Armada, we are too busy playing rugby and having fun to be judgmental.

WE BUILD STRONG ATHLETES & STRONGER COMMUNITY
We work on the 4 P's in order for us to keep the Armada an ELITE Rugby Club in San Diego.
Play – We have to have fun! If you're not having fun, then what the fuck are we doing?
Purpose – We encourage our players to find potential in their growth and in the bond they make on the pitch with their teammates.
Potential – Everyone needs to see their skills grow and their potential for greatness on the horizon. Growth is the key to fun and purpose.
PUSS – We aim to serve CUNT and the community every time we hit the pitch and serve the community. We rep the crest everywhere we go, and we are proud to represent the LGBTQ+ inclusive community.
